GENERAL QUESTIONS
ABOUT FOOT PAIN & PODIATRY
Due to the overwhelming
number of questions that were received when Dr. Reed was answering
general questions, Dr. Reed is no longer providing this free
service.
If you think you need
to see a doctor, go to the doctor. Hoping that advice
over the internet will save you a visit to the doctor is inappropriate.
Most patients who research their problem over the internet
in advance of visiting the doctor are either wrong or have an
exaggerated belief of what must be done to correct the medical
problem. There is no substitute for a good history and
a thorough physical examination to make a diagnosis and to formulate
a treatment plan. If you are waiting for advice over the
internet before going to the doctor, do not wait for a e-mail
reply because most sites only send an automatic response.
If there is a serious problem, the problem may become limb threatening
if you wait to get help such as if you have an infection .
If you need help with
identifying or understanding a foot problem, most foot problems
are explained in this web site. However, only the most
common problems are covered and not the rare conditions.
Please review the COMMON FOOT PROBLEMS BY AGE, review the most common foot problems
in the INFORMATION
CENTER or review
the different foot problem links in the WEB LINKS area.
