HOW DOES
MEDICAL INSURANCE WORK: click here.
OVERVIEW OF PAYMENT
METHODS Podiatry
services is covered by all insurance plans. In processing
medical claims at the Placentia-Linda Foot and Ankle Group, we
understand the process and have the expertise and latest computer
technology to ensure rapid submission of your claim. When
disputes occur with the insurance company, the office staff go
to bat for the patient in challenging the insurance company for
any charges that are denied or paid at a level that is below
the standard fee in the North Orange County Area. For most
patients, the experience of having their medical treatments paid
for by the insurance company is an effortless and smooth process.
The Office Claims Administrator is Mrs. Janet Cousins,
who has been involved with medical billing for many years and
will help make your insurance experience as smooth as possible.
If you have questions about a submitted medical claim,
Mrs. Cousins is available to help you from 8 am until 2 pm each
week day.
PREFERRED PROVIDER
ORGANIZATION(PPO) INSURANCE COVERAGE At the Placentia-Linda Foot and
Ankle Group, over the last ten years we have become the preferred
providers for more than 125 insurances. Even if you do
not find us in your insurance book, you should still call our
office and have our staff verify your insurance coverage because
the insurance books have many errors. The process of verifying
your insurance only takes a brief phone call and our office staff
will call you back to confirm if you are covered.
In looking for
the one of the doctors in a PPO Provider listing, the doctors
can be listed by a number of ways. Dr. Melanie Reed can
be listed under H for Himebaugh-Reed or R for Reed. The
practice name can be listed under A for A Placentia-Linda Foot
and Ankle Group or P for Placentia-Linda Foot and Ankle Group.
In some books, the doctors are listed under Placentia for where
the office is located. If you do not find the doctor's name in
the insurance book, usually it is listed somewhere else in the
book. By calling the office, the office staff can quickly
confirm that the doctor is a Preferred Provider for your insurance
company.
HMO and CASH PAYING
PATIENTS If
you have an HMO and must pay for treatment yourself or do not
have insurance coverage, a special cash discount fee schedule
is utilized by the office. In recommending treatments and
laboratory tests, every consideration is given to the patient's
cash situation and fees are discussed prior to providing any
medical treatment or ordering laboratory tests. Payment
is expected at the time medical care is rendered. The office
also accepts Visa, Discover and Mastercard.
MEDICARE PATIENTS Our office is a preferred provider for Medicare
and we utilize the latest billing guidelines to insure that the
billing is accurate. We will also bill your secondary insurance
if it is not automatically billed by Medicare. We will
bill Medicare the same amount as Medicare allows for the covered
medical service to make planning for co-payments easier.
MEDICARE PATIENTS
WITH HMO INSURANCE Under Medicare guidelines, HMO Medicare patients
must go to their HMO doctor and can not leave the HMO network
unless they decide to pay for the medical service out of their
own pocket. Unfortunately, many Medicare HMOs do not cover
foot care and the patient must pay for this service -- this is
especially important for patients with diabetes. For HMO
Medicare patients who need to go outside of their HMO network
to see a foot doctor, the office charges the exact amount that
Medicare allows for the medical service. In many cases,
the fee charged is much smaller that what is anticipated for
the medical service that is being rendered.
